My Mother-in-Law brought us two large bags full of fresh apples from her own trees. So of course I needed to try something small immediately! My SO likes apples and cinnamon, so..
Ingredients
- 1 Apple, cored and sliced
- 1 tbsp cinnamon powder
- 2 tbsp fine sugar
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated or minced
- pinch of powdered cloves
- butter for frying
- vanilla pudding for serving
(I made vanilla pudding from a ready-to-go “just add milk” mix and put it into fridge to wait. )
Coat apple slices with the spices in a small bowl. If you don’t want the ginger to be too overwhelming, try using just ½ tbsp of it.
Heat pan on medium-high and add a bit of butter. Not enough to deep-fry them, but a generous tablespoon or so, so the apples can soak the butter taste into them. Fry the coated apple slices, both sides for one minute or so. Get them a nice caramelized surface, but don’t overcook them, there should still be some of that apple-ish texture, they shouldn’t be one soft mash.
Put in a plate, and serve how with cold vanilla pudding.
