I had a few carrots and a zucchini that needed to be cooked. I also bought a pack of cute clamshell-shaped colored macaroni. It was obviously time to make a meal out of them.

Carrots are good. Butter makes everything better. Cream makes it better still. So I confess, I just wanted something really tasty and good. Don’t expect this to be healthy 😉 Continue reading “Carrot Bowl with Sweet Potato & Cream”

I love creamy vegetable soups. There’s sooo much variety in a single dish. Just change the veggies around a bit and vóila, you have a different meal. This time I’m just making a soup out of whatever there was left.

I wanted to try my hand at making veggie burgers. I’ve never done them before and from this I learned I need to practice a bit more. But it wasn’t a total failure, so there 🙂

I’ve never made tomato soup, so I wanted to try one… (hint: it didn’t work exactly as planned..) I watched a few videos and decided I’d try to make one where the fresh ingredients are first roasted, but I also wanted to have some marinated ingredients there. So this became a multi-day experiment…

When you have multiple mouths to feed, there will be no one mix of ingredients that’ll satisfy everything. So when you’re making a summertime meal and have access to decently large grill, it’s easy to just prep ingredients and let everyone choose their own mix. It’s also really easy way to cook.

While I kind of like Sushi, I can’t really be called a sushi-lover since I don’t like almost any traditional sushi fillings. However I was thinking about making sushi with my choosing of ingredients. It had to be tested beforehand though, so I though I’d make a decent meal out of the test.
So one day I was planning our meals and I found out that not only did I have one packet of pre-marinated chicken strips that should be made that day, I had three. Cue frantic “oh crap what do I do with this much chicken I can’t just fry them all I should make something easier with it heck why didn’t I notice earlier..” Well, you get the point. Thankfully I love soup and I’m even not the only one. So I grabbed a bunch of veggies and a pot…
So, I was craving something hot and brought some fresh chilies from the grocery store. These were store-brand long-ish red chilies so I thought they’d be close to Red Thai, Fresno or Jalapeño. (spoiler: they weren’t). So I thought I’d cook up a small patch of delicious onions with garlic and chili.
